Devils take care of Monarchs 5-3
#34 Jeff Prough watched #40 John Zeiler of the Monarchs fall near The Valley Patriot sign Nov. 21.
Saturday, Nov. 21, defensive lineman Jarvis Green visited the Tsongas Arena to not only promote The Jarvis Green Foundation, but to sign autographs as well.
Before the game against the Manchester Monarchs, Patriots defensive lineman Jarvis Green said, “The Jarvis Green Foundation started four years ago after Hurricane Katrina. I lost a lot of family members down there, but I started it because I wanted to help disadvantaged single working mothers.”
Green said he does little things like going to see the Devils game and have an autograph session at the same time.
Asking Green about his injury, he said the information was disclosed and, “right now, I’m doing pretty good. I’m taking it one day at a time, but hopefully I can be ready to play football whenever it comes.”
For rumors about Green going to Lousiana to become a New Orleans Saint at the end of his contract, have no fear, that information was falsely reported.
“Hey, I’m here man, I’ve been with the Patriots for eight years, and I will love to retire as a Patriot, so I’m here and the rumors you heard were just rumors,” said Green.
Over the coarse of his career, Green has won two Super Bowls, and is eager to win more.
In the game, after #18 Andrei Loktionov scored to open up the game 1-0 for the Monarchs, the Devils scored two goals by #11 Stephen Gionta, and #23 Michael Swift taking a 2-1 advantage at the end of one.
In the second period, the flood gates opened for Manchester as they scored consecutive times to take the lead. Oscar Moller tallied two goals for the Monarchs putting them in the lead within three minutes.
With the thought of leaving the second period in the hands of the Monarchs, think again as #17 Vladimir Zharkov knocked in a shot with only 7.7 seconds on the board.
“We have a good team this season,” said Zharkov talking about his thoughts on this years team. “I don’t think tomorrow, I think today,” explaining that he looks at each game one day at a time.
In the third period, the Devils scored from a goal by #9 Ben Walter as #14 Nathan Perkovich tallied home the games final goal leaving 3:52 left in the game.
Talking with Devils Head Coach John MacLean, he said, “The guys are playing solid hockey right now and we stuck with our game plan.”
With the win, as of the Devils improved their record to 12-6-3-0 sitting in a first place tie with the Monarchs 12-5-1-2.

Shore Shot Promotions
On the Web
Sure Shot Promotions is a Web business based out of Hanson.
“We do hundreds of sports auctions and fundraisers specializing in silent auction items for golf tournaments,” said Josselyn. “Most of our autographed merchandise sales are pretty much off the Web site.”
Josselyn said Sure Shot has the best inventory of New England players from past and present. It’s focus is mainly on New England and it doesn’t have too many national athletes.
“After the show, we’ll probably have some Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt, Robin Yount and Hall of Fame guys like that but mostly our core customers are the New England sports fans,” said Josselyn.
From Sure Shot Promotions Web site, www.sureshotpromotions.com, they offer thousands of different items. Josselyn said many of the things they sell are from past shows. The big fear in the industry, he said, is that the items aren’t authentic.
“Folks know us and that our autographs come straight from our own signings, so it’s less expensive, and guaranteed authentic,” said Josselyn. “We deliver, set up, collect payments, and provide credit card machines which allows for better bidding.”
Bids start a little under 50 percent of what you would see in a retail store. There is no middleman at Sure Shot Promotions so people who are looking for a particular item will see it twice as cheap.
Aside selling sports memorabilia, Sure Shot Promotions partners up with a number of other non-profit organizations. They work with sports groups, little leagues, hockey leagues, and charitable golf tournaments.
Opening in 2003 as a marketing company a lot of marketing partners and retailers that they were doing campaigns for said they would like to tie in with the Red Sox and Patriots because at that point they were both winning championships. Through this, Josselyn said they did work with some of the players agents and enjoyed working with them so they started calling to ask if there was anything else their players could work on.
“All of a sudden we were having these players come to our events and we started having them sign items for us,” said Josselyn.
Admission is free for children and senior citizens and only $5 for everyone else.
“It’s really something to see,” Josselyn said. “If you are a sports fan, you’ll get a thrill out of meeting these guys.”
