Devils take care of Monarchs 5-3

Saturday, Nov. 21, defensive lineman Jarvis Green visited the Tsongas Arena to not only promote The Jarvis Green Foundation, but to sign autographs as well.

Before the game against the Manchester Monarchs, Patriots defensive lineman Jarvis Green said, “The Jarvis Green Foundation started four years ago after Hurricane Katrina. I lost a lot of family members down there, but I started it because I wanted to help disadvantaged single working mothers.”

Green said he does little things like going to see the Devils game and have an autograph session at the same time.

Asking Green about his injury, he said the information was disclosed and, “right now, I’m doing pretty good. I’m taking it one day at a time, but hopefully I can be ready to play football whenever it comes.”

For rumors about Green going to Lousiana to become a New Orleans Saint at the end of his contract, have no fear, that information was falsely reported.

“Hey, I’m here man, I’ve been with the Patriots for eight years, and I will love to retire as a Patriot, so I’m here and the rumors you heard were just rumors,” said Green.

Over the coarse of his career, Green has won two Super Bowls, and is eager to win more.

In the game, after #18 Andrei Loktionov scored to open up the game 1-0 for the Monarchs, the Devils scored two goals by #11 Stephen Gionta, and #23 Michael Swift taking a 2-1 advantage at the end of one.

In the second period, the flood gates opened for Manchester as they scored consecutive times to take the lead. Oscar Moller tallied two goals for the Monarchs putting them in the lead within three minutes.

With the thought of leaving the second period in the hands of the Monarchs, think again as #17 Vladimir Zharkov knocked in a shot with only 7.7 seconds on the board.

“We have a good team this season,” said Zharkov talking about his thoughts on this years team. “I don’t think tomorrow, I think today,” explaining that he looks at each game one day at a time.

In the third period, the Devils scored from a goal by #9 Ben Walter as #14 Nathan Perkovich tallied home the games final goal leaving 3:52 left in the game.

Talking with Devils Head Coach John MacLean, he said, “The guys are playing solid hockey right now and we stuck with our game plan.”

With the win, as of the Devils improved their record to 12-6-3-0 sitting in a first place tie with the Monarchs 12-5-1-2.
